These are designed to work on small gauge wires. Such as 14-22 gauge (chicken wire, hardware cloth) and fabric. And light duty projects. It will not work attaching small gauge to larger gauge wires. The size of the head makes it impossible to get into the 1/2x1/2 or smaller hardware cloth unless you are attached a side panel to a top panel (90° angle). Small animal cages, chicken wire for pens and upholstery work. Works great on chicken wire regardless. As far as sharp points, these are designed to create a wraparound ⭕️ circle. The points come together so they are not able to catch on anything or cause harm to animals or fowl The wire is thin gauge and if not applied properly will pull apart. For what it is designed for, this works great. Loading the wire can be tricky, but so can loading a heavy duty stapler. The staple will stick together if the staples are not applied properly in the completed circle ⭕️ . Overall, it has its uses, though limited.

I found the pliers and hog rings easy to use and to load. Used in car seat upholstery repair and for sausage casings use. It would be nice if it also had access to a smaller ring
