Our medium-roasted Organic Guatemalan has a bold taste of earthy cocoa with subtle floral notes. The coffee cherries are selectively handpicked and pulped on the farms with minor fermentation, before being washed and filtered naturally and laid to sun dry on raised beds lined with parchment paper. These SHB arabica coffee beans are matured slowly due to high altitude for a more flavorful bean.

FECCEG (Federacion Comercializadora de Cafe Especial de Guatemala)

This coffee is a part of a second-tier cooperative, FECCEG, composed of 12 base cooperatives operating in 6 departments across Guatemala, and was founded to find sustainable economic activities to improve members' livelihoods. The 12 base cooperatives represent more than 1,000 smallholder producers -- a third of whom are women -- who farm a mixture of coffee, honey and sugar.

FECCEG members are Fair-trade and Organic certified, and promotes using natural resource sustainability by working with agricultural technicians to produce fertilizers from coffee byproducts.

The Guatemalan coffee industry boasts an exceptionally high quality coffee bean consistently produced from small holder farmers at high altitudes. Many cooperatives have initiated quality improvement training for farmer members and are becoming more adept at helping members market their coffee as speciality.
