It has a cover which is washable, but the pillow has a chemical smell which does vanish after awhile. Its comfortable and does help, at first, but then it starts to deflate. I've had it 4 months, I am not in a wheelchair so it only gets used when I need to sit, and I only weigh 150, yet it has flattened significantly. Between the obnoxious smell that lasted for almost 2 weeks and the short time before it flattens, I don't recommend it.
