i bought a clearance pitcher last year to get by with having to fill pitchers of water as we have no running water near by. It sucked but I didnt realize how much until I bought this one. This pitcher is fantastic. it kept our water chill for hours. yes, there is a chemical smell initially, but after cleaning it well, it disappeared. I love this pitcher. for the design, ease of use, shape, and quality. i know I need to get away from plastic water vessels, but how my life is currently, this works so well. I totally recommend. p.s:. I have zero problem with the lid. it fits well and is easy to pour from.
