Great computer. This computer comes with a lighted keyboard, which I never thought I would want, but it is awesome. The set up is very easy to follow. The solid state hard drive is something I have never had, but would not want to do without. I would recommend this computer.

Dell Inspiron 5579
I love using my new laptop!!!
The best part about my laptop is that is has a touch screen. that helps a lot. The other thing that I like is the way that it folds to a tablet. Don't have any complaints at all!!!
Excited let down.
I am a huge Dell fan. I own 6 dell computers as old as a Pentium II running Windows 98 (Don't judge, it's nostalgic only). I shopped an compared for about 2 months before settling on this device. I am on the fourth battery charge and when I was opening up the device from the closed position an into the tablet position and the LCD plastic cover separated from the LCD. This resulted in 4 white spots appearing from the margins of the screen where the separation occurred. I have submitted a warranty request, and I am confident that Dell will make the right decision in exchanging this device for one without a rare manufacturer defect.
Poor Battery, too much heavy and not that fast
I am IT professional and bought inspiron-15-5579-2-in-1-laptop last week from dell with 512 SSD, 16 GB RAM and 8th generation i7. I was expecting it too be lightning fast but it's disappointing considering such latest configuration
Also battery is very poor. In normal browsing it drains completely in 4.15 hour only. For complete charging it takes 2 hours.
Laptop is very heavy to carry(7.9 lbs as per FedEx). I have two other laptops and none of them is heavy like this one.
Slow as molasses, waste of money
Machine takes twice as long to boot as another 5000 series laptop purchased at the same time. Same CPU, same amount of memory, same OS, both with stock 1TB mechanical hard drives. Line by line BIOS comparison seems to indicate that this machine boots at 1.6GHz while the other one boots at 3.4GHz, all other parameters identical. User complains that machine is slower than the old Atom powered netbook it was supposed to replace.
I currently manage over 100 Dell desktops and a hundred more laptops as part of my work. I bought this laptop for myself and it has been a colossal disappointment. Boot times and responsiveness are simply unacceptable. It is literally several minutes from power on to getting a browser page up and running. Ok, it has an HDD but, really people, this is crazy. Disk is frequently 100% occupied in spite of turning off key Windows search services. I will be devoting more time to discovering the underlying causes of this problem, but I'd have to say that the 'out of the box experience' has extraordinarily very poor.
Laptop getting overheated and we are planning to return
It has been just 3 weeks that I purchased this laptop and it's getting overheated already. I can hear the cooling fan running full speed and there aren't even a lot of applications on my machine. I am not able to view live stream movies via my Amazon account or youtube.
Dell Active Pen does not work - misleading!!!!
The Dell website implied that the Dell Active Pen is compatible with our new laptop … am extremely annoyed that to find it doesn't work. Poor reflection on Dell brand and I will be passing on my experience to others.
Initial Setting Problem
Tried to setup face recognition but it's not loaded just blank screen, Tried booting up, which shows as windows didn't loaded properly.. Overheating problems.. not great experience so far
The Inspiron 15 5579 is a good looking laptop. However, performance is poor, especially the WiFi network. My old laptop (5 years old) has far better network performance. Also, this unit was shipped with a 45W power adapter which is not recognized by the BIOS and does not charge the battery. I purchased this unit three days ago and am considering returning it.
