I bought this and my boyfriend put it together while I was asleep to surprise me. Little did I know the horror he went through for this stand as I slept peacefully. When I woke, I noticed immediately that the drawers were on the left side. (I'm right handed) and there was a back on the stand. It's not open like the picture suggests. I asked my partner why the drawers were opposite. He began to tell me that the instructions were missing information and what was shown, seemed to be partly wrong. After he had it mostly put together, the last few pieces would not go on because the instructions showed him to put them backwards. He had to break it back down as much as he could and re-build it the best he could. Turns out , it comes with a back but it's optional, I'm sure. The top of the stand is only being held together by small wooden dowels and a little bit of wood glue. So, if you purchase this, be careful not to pull the top off while moving it around.
