Beautiful sofa / futon bed. Came 6 days earlier than the expected delivery date. Looks just like in the picture. We ordered two pieces. When it came, the way the Fedex delivery person dropped the boxes down, we cringed and thought gosh hope the sofa did not get damaged inside. The boxes were ripped in 2 different places like something had scraped through. We could see the black lining material inside which typically we find under and behind the sofas to cover up the construction parts. We almost prayed we did not find the inside of the sofa broken, damaged or ripped.
Each sofa comes in a 2 box set. One large box has the main sofa base with all the accessories, sofa legs and nuts, bolts, washers, allen keys and wrench set to assemble it, which is packed securely in the zipped pockets under the sofa base, which was a very cool feature. The other smaller box has the Arms in it, they too come covered in lining fabric covers. So if you received just one box, you did not get the full piece. It says Box 1 of 2 and Box 2 of 2. We opened and assembled the first sofa 2 days back.
Pleasantly the black lining that we were seeing from the ripped portion of the box before we opened it, that black cloth lining was covers provided to cover each piece separately. The sofa pieces came with lining fabric covers to protect it, which was a big relief. The pieces were all intact even after the rough delivery and the way the boxes were dropped from the truck bed. It took us about 2 hours to assemble. The instructions were easy to follow. It does require 2 people when assembling the arms to the base. The final look is really good and sophisticated. We were looking for similar formal looking sofas for our formal living room and we could not find a set of 2 pieces for less than 1300$ anywhere even after all the thanksgiving and other holiday deals. Besides the delivery timelines with other furniture stores was beyond ridiculous.
We took a chance to order online and see if it's worth it. It would not hurt if it was not up to our expectations as we could return the items to the store within 90 days of purchase. However, we are happy and pleasantly surprised with the first one that we assembled. The seating is pretty deep. Does not feel like you're sitting on the edge. The seats are nice and firm and decently comfortable. The construction quality is good and seems sturdy. Let's see how long and how far the quality lasts. So far so good. When converted to a futon, it will easily accommodate a 5'10" - 5'11" person. Anyone taller than that might find the feet touching the arms of the sofa. Space wise 1 adult and 1 child can sleep comfortably on the futon. So far the sofa has withstood the jumping of a 40 lbs, 2.5 year old and the craziness that comes with 2 rolling kids trying to make snow angels on the sofa because the fabric is soft. The kids loved the velvet feel of the fabric. Let's hope the other sofa has withstood the rough delivery and is equally good. Fingers X
