The rug looks almost real because it has fake "hair", its not just printed. To buy a real hair on hide of this quality color variation would be pricey. Plus, although I love the look and feel of real leather, seeing an entire hide on the floor would be a constant reminder that it was a living being. This way my conscience is freer.
