Ortho® Orthene® Fire Ant Killer1 kills the queen and destroys the mound. You will see results in just sixty minutes. For best results, apply when ants are active or when new mounds appear. Try not to disturb the mounds while treating. No need to water-in! Applications are not to be made during heavy dew or just before a rain. Ortho® Orthene® Fire Ant Killer1 can be used in home lawns and around ornamental plants (including flowers, trees, and shrubs). Sprinkle dry powder over each mound, referring to the package label for the amount to use. This product can be used along with Ortho® Fire Ant Killer Broadcast Granules as part of the Ortho Fire Ant 2-Step Program. Ortho® Orthene® Fire Ant Killer1 treats up to 162 mounds. Note that applications made under prolonged hot and dry conditions may be ineffective due to the location of ants deep in the nest.

It is a violation of Federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. To be used only as a mound treatment for home lawns and around ornamental plants (including flowers, trees and shrubs). Do not allow children or pets to come into contact with treated surfaces until dusts have settled. Fire Ants, Red Harvester Ants: How to Apply: Sprinkle 1 tablespoon dry powder over each mound. No need to water-in. Try not to disturb mounds while treating. When to Apply: For best results, apply when ants are active. Applications during prolonged hot or dry conditions may be less effective. Do not apply during heavy dew or just before a rain. Treat new mounds as they appear. Storage and Disposal: Storage: Keep pesticide in original container. Do not concentrate or dilute into food or drink containers. Store in a cool, dry place, preferably in a locked storage area. Disposal: Securely wrap partially filled or empty container in several layers of newspaper and discard in trash. Do not reuse container.

Keep out of reach of children. Hazards to humans & domestic animals. Harmful if swallowed. Causes moderate eye irritation. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Avoid breathing dust or spray mist. When handling this product, wear chemical resistant gloves, long pants, and long-sleeved shirt. When using outdoors, spray with the wind to your back and do not use when wind speeds are 10 mph or more. Wash the outside of the gloves with soap and water before removing. First Aid: If Swallowed: Drink 1 or 2 glasses of water or milk and induce vomiting by touching the back of the throat with finger. If possible, contact a physician, Poison Control Center or emergency center before inducing vomiting. Do not induce vomiting or give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Take person and product to the nearest emergency treatment center. If in Eyes: Flush eyes with plenty of water. Call a physician if irritation persists. Note to Physicians: Emergency Information call 1-800-225-2883. Acephate is a cholinesterase inhibitor. Atropine is antidotal. 2-PAM is also antidotal and may be used in conjunction with atropine but should not be used alone. Environmental Hazards: This pesticide is toxic to birds. Do not apply directly to water. Do not contaminate water by cleaning of equipment or disposal of wastes. Cover or soil-incorporate spills. This product is highly toxic to bees exposed to direct treatment or residues on blooming plants. Do not apply this product or allow it to drift to blooming plants if bees are visiting treatment area. Definitely works but smells like a can of rotten cabbage. You will need to wear gloves and always apply in the direction of the wind, you definitely don't want this getting on your clothing or yourself as it smells to high heaven's. This does work for the intended insect along with other insects such as silverfish, German cockroaches, other species of ants. Do NOT put this inside your home!!!!
