l was going to give it as a gift for one of my grand kids but i like it so much i think im going to keel it for myself. my favorite thing about it is that with wifi you can use your tablet or phone to use as the view screen. great clarity in its magnification. relatively easy to set up and use. wish it had a few more accessories included with it, but you can order what you need through walmart. opens up a whole new world tha you didnt know exsisted. quality product. easy to use. hours of educational entertainment. Every kid should have one. On my christmas list for all 6 of my grand kids.

Glad everyone has shown the more common parts and features. I found a few that may get overlooked but are useful. You have to buy your own batteries and you may need to buy a small Phillips screwdriver for opening the battery case. It certainly is a lot of fun and can be used indoor and outdoor. It has a strap to help when carrying the microscope. There is a touch spot on the bottom of the scope that turns on/off a back light. You can change its color by touching it again. It is interesting to see how the color change affects the specimen you are looking at. With one color everything disappears, with another color only certain portions stand out. See photos. A secret to using the microscope without the stand, is to use the Sample Cup and Sample Slot. Both provide stability when using it on a table. The Sample Cup allows you to move your specimen left and right so you can examine the whole specimen. The other is a Sample Slot for viewing slides, it serves two functions one it centers the slide for proper viewing and the second is to provide a white backdrop so you don't see the surface immediately behind the specimen. See photo showing slide with my table top showing through. Use caution when removing your slides so that you don't lose the very small cover sheets for the slides. You need the cover sheets to help focus the microscope on the specimen. I had trouble using the Sample Cup due to static electricity. My specimen was about the size of a pin head and would jump around if I tried to reposition it with one of the tools included with the kit. I guess I could use some anti-static spray or a dryer sheet to remove the static. It is hard to tell when you have fully charged the microscope battery. You have to keep pushing the power button to show its status.
