Buy this brand; To sell it in glass jars as well!

Don't waste your money on other brands. This one is still reliable in taste and texture, despite that tomatoes this day and age area far cry from tomatoes grown several decades ago. Thus for older established cooks, you will know what I mean... Therefore, no brand in USA is as good as it was in yesteryears, tomato-wise. I was raised on this brand and continued to use it thru-out my life. The perk is that this brand does not have other additives: if it did, I would not buy it. But a couple times over the past year, due to the price changes overall on everything, I tried two other brands- and that those two common stores did not carry this brand at all. One was hideous and fake-oily with odd oily after -taste and made a mess of my recipe, ruined it... it did not even firm up the sauce either, while the other was pretty inane in general. I won't buy either ever again. Now on, I'll just get this brand, but they really should lower the price considerably for us. That is why shoppers are forced to try other brands!!! Until you've tried what is also considered "better brands," just stick with this one-- Get this large size, freeze the left over raw paste if you have any left over, or keep in a container in the fridge to use more quickly. I do both. Generally, I tend to use the entire large can in one recipe because it does not firm up the recipe like it used to when I was a kid or younger adult when we simply used a small can or two or the larger one. when tomatoes were gown for higher quality, probably from better seeds too. I hate buying canned food, so I strongly recommend to any companies reading this, that they must simply package their tomato paste in GLASS BOTTLES!!! It is healthier and more taste-worthy!!! Tomatoes are acidic, so the harmful metallic elements seep into the paste!!! (Ever lick or taste the paste residue on the metal lids upon opening the cans? Horrible metallic taste!!! ) Metal gets into our bodies, regardless of what is in the can! And if a brand adds other stuff to their tomato pastes that makes it even unhealthier, you'd know what I mean. *Therefore, to this company and other tomato paste companies, I recommend you manufacture tomato pastes in GLASS BOTTLES, little glass jars, please,. And/or, continue to produce this brand in metal cans but also give shoppers the option of buying it in GLASS JARS too, at a lower cost. But if you refuse, then keep it at the same price as your canned ones! * In conclusion: To all such companies... Have some pity on us shoppers for goodness sake, so please keep the stupid prices way down, so the public can buy more of your tomato pastes, metal can or glass, period! Thanks in advance.

Contadina is Still the Best Tomato Paste

I cannot live without Contadina tomato paste. When I see I have less than 6 cans in my kitchen it's time to order. This tomato paste is nice and thick and makes a delicious anything when you add a tablespoon or a whole can to the pot of whatever you are cooking. I keep it simple. I whack a few cloves of garlic and throw them into a pan that has a nice coating of Great Value extra virgin olive oil. Swirl the garlic until garlic gets golden and then add the paste and simmer on low heat until the tomato paste takes on a darker hue. Turn the heat to low or off as you add whole canned tomatoes or Great Value tomato sauce- a few 8 oz. cans. Add salt and pepper a shake of oregano and fresh or dried basil. Fresh basil is the best. Let this wonderfulness simmer on low an hour or so and don't let the bottom burn. If you are just cooking the garlic and the tomato paste let that just simmer til warmed through. Cook yourself some pasta (save a cup of pasta water) and add pasta to pan with a little more olive oil and macaroni cheese and stir until the pasta is coated and now you can add a little of the saved water if it seems too dry and enjoy my friend!

This is my secret ingredient - shh, don't tell...

Tastes very good as compared to other brands, I find it is more like the flavor I would expect from tomatoes that are cooked down without burning the pot...
