Colorantic™ chalk paints, with a chalky matte finish, are non-toxic, have no lead content and the added colourants contain only a tiny amount of volatile organic compounds (VOC), meeting all Health Canada standards. Chalk paints and Colorantic™ products are also eco-friendly. In fact, instead of using conventional metal cans, we use plastic pots with resealable lids, in order to well preserve the paint. In addition to being ecological and creamy, the velvety texture of our unique water-based and chalk paint recipe is made from Canadian ingredients. We have developed our own chalk paint recipe for our customers to complete their projects. It is so easy and enjoyable to paint with Colorantic™. Whether you are an experienced painter or not, you will quickly fall in love with these products. The chalk paints, waxes and glazes dry quickly, in a time frame of around 30 minutes. This formula allows you to apply a second coat quickly, saving time to focus on other activities. In addition, Colorantic™ chalk paint adheres to virtually all surfaces such as wood, fabrics and matte metal with little preparation. If you have glossy wood furniture, you will only need to lightly sand, clean it with TSP and rinse to then spread the paint. However, certain glossy surfaces or surfaces with a glossy varnish may require an oil primer before applying Colorantic™. Colorantic™ offers a wide range of colours: 32 chalk paint colours, 5 metallic paint colours, 4 colours of glitter, 4 glazes and 5 waxes. The company also offers a wide selection of accessories such as brushes, cleaners, hand products and even handles to finalize your furniture upcycling or restoration projects. Colorantic chalk paint is best applied with one of our oval brushes or a velvet finish sponge roller. Our paint applies like buttercream icing on a cake (but on a piece of furniture). It dries in 30 to 60 minutes. On the other hand, before applying a varnish or wax, it is preferable to let it dry longer (2 to 24 hours). The paint can be left as is or apply a varnish, wax or glaze to protect for added durability. If it is a glass surface, apply the paint directly with a gray sponge brush. If it is a surface with a water-based varnish, clean the surface with Colorantic Cleaner and Varnish Remover (TSP-E) to remove the shine. If it is a surface with oil paint or varnish (usually vintage desks or kitchen/bathroom cabinets), use TSP powder (be careful of powerful chemicals, so wear gloves and ventilate the room). Apply the TSP with a cloth of water and a drop of soap. Wait 1 hour to dry the surface. Paint when the TSP chemical is gone and the gloss has been removed. If it is bare wood (e.g. pine), apply the paint directly. At Colorantic, we strongly recommend the proper preparation of furniture. We advise carefully planning the preparation steps so that you do not have any surprises. Remember that according to ALL Canadian chemists, no water-based paint can be applied over oil-based varnish/paint. Basic rule 101!!! Perfect for Arts and Crafts, Home Decor, Furniture Upgrading/Makeover, Fabrics, DIY Projects and more!
