We start off by hand-applying colored dye to virgin leather with a sponge. The dyes are expertly rubbed into the grain of the leather, then burnished on a cloth wheel. After this process takes place, each pair of shoes is carefully inspected to ensure the stain and burnish has a consistent look. A final brushing of the shoe on a hair wheel is performed to achieve a luster finish. Our Pinch Weekender is a modern take on our iconic penny loafer silhouette, a staple of the Cole Haan brand for decades. First popularizedon Ivy League campuses in the 1950s, the Pinch defines both American style and Cole Haan craftsmanship. The Pinch name is derived from the manner in which a cobbler pinches the leather as it?s sewn together. While the Pinch Weekender preserves this timeless profile, it also features new materials and colors and introduces the crustacean logo, a nod to Cole Haan?s rich New England history rooted in Yarmouth, Maine. Grand.OS, an operating system for the feet, delivers increased cushioning throughout the entire footbed, while a sneaker-like sole and wearable materials combine to make it the single most indispensable weekend shoe.
