It seems that someone has been caught trying to abscond with thousands of $s in illegal funds, but instead of making a dash for the nearest airport, he made a dash to his friends on the local newspaper. Of course they tell him they are loyal and caring but mostly they are really worrying about the Pulitzer they hope they will get when the story breaks.
