I won't pay for TV anymore!

After spending a large amount of time reviewing various antenna's I chose this one. My husband installed it in a couple of hours on our rooftop. You can also install it in your attic but we figured because of where we live it would be best to have it outside. We love it!! I would like to add that our region was just in a two day wind storm with winds reaching 60MPH and we had no trouble with reception. I would recommend this for anyone who is tired of paying for television. We are happy with our choice. Wal Mart was the best priced and the shipping can't be beat! It came in excellent condition and just when they said it would.

Great Product

We live in the SF Bay Area and grew tired of ever-rising cable monthly charges. Most of the channel we watch are actually carried by local broadcast stations. We figured we might as well cut the cable and use antenna for free TV programs. From antennaweb.org (a very useful web site) we found out that most (about a dozen or so) of the stations around us are about 40 miles away and in roughly the same direction. This is good news that we do not need an antenna rotator. I did some research and decided on this TV antenna model. This is one of the smaller "fish bone" type antenna available. I had to decide on two questions that most average consumer may have on the antenna choice. 1. How big an antenna should I buy? The bigger the antenna, the better in signal sensitivity, and hence the higher the received signal level. However, with the digital TV broadcasting these days, once you receive a reasonable signal level, the picture quality is crystal clear. And you do not need to go for the higher signal level from the bigger antenna. No need to waste money on a big antenna when a smaller one can do just fine. 2. What band(s) should the antenna good for? Check the listing of TV stations around your home address from antennaweb.org. Look at the right-most column (RF Channel). The RF channel number relates to what the TV band it is in. Channels 2 to 6 are low VHF, channels 7 to 13 are high VHF, and channels 14 to 69 are UHF. Pick your antenna based on what band(s) your TV stations are in. I spent half a day to set it up. Used a 1-to-2 splitter to split the received signal to two lines for the two TVs in the house. Re-scanned the channels and got 57 channels. All of them crystal clear. What a delight! So it is bye-bye to the cable from now on. p.s. I originally thought we may need a mast-mount pre-amplifier to amplify the signal. It turned out there is no need for that. Saved me another $60. :) E.

ANTENNA VS CABLE?

As I strive to control home cost and yet retain entertainment value I have installed the above product in my attic and very pleased with results. I live in a rural area and was happy to receive good reception of broadcast within 40 miles. Lots better than I expected and no antenna on my roof! sincerely, rick
