Took me about 3 hours while watching TV and taking a lot of breaks. It was not that hard to assemble. I used a small rubber mallet to put the parts together. Using only slight pounding so I wouldn't break any of the plastic. Instructions were laid out pretty well. Cons: Not very impressed by the cover. One tie at the bottom tore off with only a slight tug. Not too sure about the portability. Best off to assemble it in the area you want to put it. There is a reason that only stuffed toys are in the pockets at the very end. Shelves are a thin material. I am going to put 1/4 inch plywood over all the shelving areas and across the top just to be on the safe side. This is probably not needed. But I want it to last.
