McGinnis (b. 1926) is a respected illustrator, famous for of paperback covers and as many movie posters. He has an innate understanding of the female form and his ability to convey a sensual elegance has made him a continued favourite with art directors. McGinnis apprenticed at Disney Studios and studied fine art at Ohio State University. After serving as a Merchant Marine during the Second World War, he began a successful career in commercial illustration. He has illustrated covers for maior American publishing houses, such as Dell and Signet, and for magazines such as Ladies' Home Journal. Time and Saturday Evening Post. McGinnis went on to work on over 40 film campaigns, most notably for several James Bond films, including Thunderball, You Only Live Twice and Diamonds Are Forever. He was inducted into the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame in 1993. Although officially retired, he still accepts the occasional commission - in 2009 he illustrated a widely publicized advertising campaign for Stella Artois, which harked back to the 1960s style that had made his name.
