Utilitarian, but it has a very interesting shape, texture, and color. Ironwood has a reputation for being a very hard wood, so its look should hold up overtime. The heft is good without being heavy, it has good balance and is easy to use. I look forward to using it, hiking trails and the pedestrian path here in town.

Excellent for tramping about

This is one of two walking sticks that I bought this summer of 2025. The other was from the same company but made of ironwood/muscle-wood. (I bought these sticks because we have had some Copperhead Snakes showing up on our property and feral dogs passing through too. So I wanted something to rattle the brush while out walking to alert any snakes or other critters about my presence without being in immediate striking distance and to help keep me safe.) This hickory stick is sturdy and easy for me to grip. I'm a woman with small hands and this is just perfect for me. (The ironwood stick is also just as excellently made, but the grip is a bit thicker and is better for people with larger hands.) The hickory is resistant to water damage based upon what I've read from various internet sources, and should last a long time. I love the craftsmanship! :) This was most Definitely worth the buy!! I would highly recommend this for anyone who is looking for a good walking stick for themselves or who has someone in their life that loves the great outdoors. I'm sure that it'll be well appreciated. :)
