While this looks good, getting it to take an edge is gotten to be a personal challenge. Came with an edge like a butter knife and is obviously made in China. Even if it takes an edge there is a low confidence level that it will keep it. I haven't seen cracks or chips that were reported by other reviewers or I would have sent it back. I don't know if heat treat or grade of steel or both are the issue but it definitely is not like 420hc. And it certainly isn't true Damascus steel. The recipe for that was lost several hundred years ago and science has never been able to break it down. It's a look-a-like more for show than anything. Not intended for field use.
