The thickness is great. It feels soft and comfortable and warm. Im 5 foot four 140 pounds I ordered size Large but could've ordered a medium. You still need a nice stocking cap underneath for added warmth around your ears. Overall, it's a good purchase and I'm going to enjoy it in Lake Tahoe great value for some money.
