Avid Armor Ultra Series USV20 Chamber Vacuum Sealer, Stainless Steel Food Saver Vacuum Machine, Vacuum Food Sealer for Wet Foods

My husband is a pilot and tries to eat healthy on the road (and save money from eating out) so I am using a vacuum sealer almost daily to seal and freeze his meals that he takes with him on trips. My old sealer had its issues but mostly I knew how to work around them. Best of all it was a pretty compact unit. But more and more I was having bags not seal properly and it was a pain to find meals in the freezer covered in frost. I hated dealing with anything remotely moist, which really any food has some amount of moisture. This liquid would get sucked up and prevent a good seal. Well, this old vacuum sealer broke and although it was still under warranty the company didn't have my model in stock so I began researching vacuum sealers. I kept seeing sealers labeled as "professional" and I thought that would mean they could handle the poor seal problems I was having with liquid, but really their designs seemed basically the same, just huge. I felt that the only thing making them professional was a larger pump which I didn't feel I needed. So, I basically gave up until I saw a video on Instagram of someone using an avid armor to seal their game. Most of all it wasn't huge and I had to learn more. I began researching chamber vacuum sealers. What a game changer! I could tell right away that a chamber sealer was the way I needed to go. I also learned that Avid Armor's USV20 was actually a newer model and that no one else was making anything as compact as it is. I'm using this thing every day, it's always on the counter, so I did not want a beast. This unit still takes up a chunk of space in my relatively small kitchen, but it's worth it to no longer have to deal with the other style of vacuum sealers. I also love that the USV20 has the accessory port. I use this to vacuum seal my extra coffee beans in amber colored mason jars. I also got used to vacuuming my opened wine bottles with my other vacuum sealer port, and I didn't want to say goodbye to that feature. :) The most liquid thing I've sealed so far is a bag of chili and it did create a mess. Maybe I filled it too full? But now I do prop the front end up a little if I'm sealing something that could run (and fill it a little less full) and I haven't had any more messes. I love this vacuum sealer.

I am really enjoying it. I got it along with a Sous Vide Joule device and they really complement each other. You can tell its well made and its pretty easy to use, certainly easier than the traditional foodsaver vacuum type sealers.
