When a helicopter accident leaves 16 year-old Emma Crawshay (Amanda Fuller) orphaned, she is sent to live on a wild African game refuge with her Aunt Paula (Marlee Matlin) and Uncle Joss (C. Thomas Howell). Paula, a respected elephant conservationist, is fighting to come to terms with her sister's death and buries herself in her work, virtually ignoring her niece. However, their mutual love of elephants gradually brings Paula and Emma together. Emma quickly finds her favorite, a young elephant named "Ollie".
Unfortunately, Emma's Uncle Joss, a game warden, has a secret he's hiding from both of them. Torn between emotion and reason, the family becomes as threatened as the elephants themselves. Follow the action as one family's desperate attempt to save the elephants becomes as breathtaking and unforgiving as the African landscape itself.
