    I'm really enjoying this cooker!

I have had this rice cooker for a few weeks and have used it six times. Each time it has made perfect rice. I am a single person and this 6-cup size is perfect; I make one batch [2 measuring cups of rice, 3 measuring cups of short brown rice] and have enough rice for several (4?) meals. After the rice cooks and cools, I put the stainless steel pot in the fridge. I love having rice "ready" when I need it. I was concerned about the glass top with the metal rim. I have had (have) other cookware with glass/metal lids and have been very unhappy with them. (Food, grime gets caught between the glass and metal and it's nearly impossible to get out... hence, bacteria build-up?) BUT, this lid has no crevice for food/grime to get caught; the glass and metal are tightly clamped. I have not had a single worry or concern. The pot washes out easily.... just as easy, if not easier, than non-stick coated cookware. (My opinion.) And, I LOVE knowing I am not eating non-stick coatings!!! Yes, I love this Cooker! :D

    Happy with my purchase :)

Was tired of constantly replacing my rice cookers because the Teflon pot would show signs of wear rather quickly. I suspect that material is not healthy to have in my rice, so I did a search for stainless steel rice cookers, it seems they are not easy to find at a reasonable price. Inner pot is of good quality, not flimsy. I don't find the rice sticking that much as some have complained of. I don't let it sit for more than an hour on the warm cycle and a short soak takes care of any rice that might have stuck. I don't find it sputtering much, I suspect if you use too much water that would happen. The cup that is included with the cooker actually measures 3/4 cup regular American size, so if you have a large family consider the larger size. This one is fine for 2 people. We cook rice just about every day and I am happy with this cooker. Have used for a month, no complaints. Price is good, loved Walmart's free pickup at store.

    Not Happy

My old rice cooker recently just gave up the ghost. It was several years old and well used. I considered it to be $9.99 well invested and was disappointed when it quit working. I ordered this Aroma 6 cup cooker because it was similar to my old cooker, but I felt it was an upgrade because of the stainless cooking bowl. The Aroma is a nice looking , straight forward cooker that is disappointing. The first time I used the cooker, it was a starchy mess. The water boiled out from around the lid and through the vent hole. The entire bottom of the stainless cooking bowl was covered with a thick layer of burned rice stuck tightly to the bowl. I gave it another try. After coating the cooking bowl with olive oil, rice was still sticking to the bottom of the bowl, but the oil seemed to cut down on the water escaping around the lid. I'm planning to give it one more try before making it a donation to charity. I would return it, but the packaging and receipts have been thrown out. At this point I am now a happy Aroma owner.
We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing boiling over with your rice cooker. We have a few troubleshooting tips to try. One suggestion is to rinse the rice thoroughly 2 - 3 times to rid of excess starch. Another suggestion is to be sure that the rice is put in the rice cooker first before adding the water. Lastly, be sure that the proper amount of water to rice ratio is being used. Best priced stainless steel rice pot on the market

If you are looking for a healthier way to cook your rice than all of the non stick pot options this is it. Pot is made out of surgical stainless steel. Easy to clean and no harmful non stick chemicals. Also if you take it off the cooker as soon as it is ready the rice will still stay warm for a while and have less of a chance of sticking. Excellent delivery time from Walmart too. At my door in three days. Thanks Walmart!

    Love it!

I would give it a 4.5 stars because it works very well. I enjoyed the cooked rice made out of this cooker. It is soft and yummy. Some people complained about the rice being under cooked or sticky...well there are plenty of information (flyers and small booklet to read) coming with the cooker with helpful tips on different kinds of rice, amount of water to use, etc. The only thing I don't like is that the water comes out of the hole in front, but that's how it woks when I put 2 cups of brown rice along with 4 cups of water. I just put a towel in front of the rice cooker to avoid any splash around it. Be advised that the total amount of cooked rice that this cooker can managed is 6 cups. So before starting, read the instructions associated with the kind of rice used and add the amount of water suggested...and have fun experimenting with different kinds of rice too. Bon appetit!

    Best choice after doing research

I have done my research and this is the one I am buying. Best price for a small rice maker with a stainless steel inner pot. My old one I have had for 30 years or more. (From Japan) It still works but has a aluminum inner pot. Since I really don't want to get Alzheimers from the aluminuim pot or sick from a non stick pot, this is the ticket. In USA terms it would make up to 4 cups of cooked rice, or less is your prefer. Perfect for 2 people. I can't wait to pick it up my order from Walmart. Good reviews on it too. If you don't want your rice to bubble over the pan, wash your rice good before you cook it. Put it in a bowl or warm water and rub it between your hands. Rinse until your water is clear. Than cook. I read this as a common complaint. It's not the rice cooker. You need to wash the rice first.

    Aroma 6-cup rice cooker

I selected the Aroma 6-cup rice cooker because it's the right size for cooking for one person and it has a stainless steel cooking pot. As background -- I am not happy with the cooktop on my stove -- it's the solid glass surface electrical kind. I haven't been able to cook rice correctly on it because the cooking heat is erratic. So I thought I'd buy the rice cooker and make perfect rice! Well, no. The Aroma rice cooker did not make perfect rice. The rice came out lumpy and sticky. I did everything that the instructions said to do to correct the problem, but no luck. So I decided to return it to the store. I was tempted to keep it, to heat up things like soup, but that seemed kinda silly -- I can heat up soup on my cooktop (if I'm careful!). So I did not keep the rice cooker. On the plus side, the Aroma cooker is very cute and lightweight. On the minus side, in order to turn it off, you have to unplug it (no on/off switch). That's inconvenient. Also, when it's in the "Cook" mode, it splutters and the gooeyness from the rice gets all over the outside of the cooker and onto the surface of where the cooker is sitting. Not a good feature.
Hello Mary,<br />We are sorry to hear that your experience with the Aroma 6-cup Stainless Steel Surface rice cooker was not ideal. Per your description, there is a chance that there was too much water as this would cause it to sputter and resulting in lumpy, sticky rice. Please note: when cooking rice in the rice cooker it does not require as much water as if you were cooking on the stove top. We hope that you would consider an Aroma rice cooker again as it does add convenience to cooking rice when the rice cooker switches to warm automatically. We are happy to help you with any questions and/or concerns. Aroma Customer Service is available Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm PST @ 1-800-276-6286.

    Good Product

Ive been looking for a stainless steel surface rice cooker and im glad i found one,i like it because its safe compare to non stick coated pot that i had before.

    Very nice quality

Makes perfect rice. Everything about this rice cooker is high quality. The stainless steel pot had a nice polish and an ultra base to keep the heat distributed evenly.

    not perfect

the rice cooker needs to be unplugged between uses, keep warm setting ii think is a bit too hot, hole in lid makes for inconvenient storage until next day. and uses more water-makes steam. i would prefer these 3 issues were resolved by aroma instead of me. nice small size tho, and being stainless is a 'must have' feature because i can use a metal spoon to scoop rice with. i bot a on-off plug adapter from home depot. this contraption does cook the best rice i ever ate, don't fully know why but it does.
