This projector is pretty self explanatory to set up. We tried watching a movie using a Chromecast. Once we turned the unit on, we pressed the home button, then used the included remote to navigate to the HDMI slot. We first tested the projector at 10' away. At that distance, the screen is about 8' on the diagonal, and still clear. We then moved it back 2.5'. The screen is still pretty clear at 12.5' distance and 11' at the diagonal. That was plenty big for us. The pictures are from this distance. We actually tested it on a textured, angled, red wall, not on a white screen, so the picture quality and coloring would only be better on a proper screen. Even so, we were still impressed. Excuse the mess in the corner! The audio can get very loud, and the remote allows you to fine tune it to the level you like (whereas my phone only has 15-20 increments or so). The quality was impressive. The unit includes a little adjustable foot in case you want to angle your projector up a little bit. It's not a substantial lift, but just enough to angle it right on your screen. I only have two knocks on this. 1) the blue power light is pretty bright in the dark, but we just cover it with some masking tape and it's fine. 2) the carrying case should have some sort of hard shell to protect the equipment. It's pretty soft and flexible, and considering the beating the box took getting here I was concerned about damage to the unit. Luckily, it wasn't damaged, but just something to be aware of. We're pretty pleased overall, and would recommend this unit!
