About this item
Product details
In today's music world of over-produced computer rock, it's great to know there's still a band or two that's got a foot planted in the roots of rock. One of those bands is called Earl Clifton and The Pin-Ups, a married couple turned two-piece rock duo based out of rural Chesapeake, Virginia Since their 2005 debut they have delivered the My Crazy Woman EP and now Earl Clifton does it again with 'Ann' a new EP for the fall! Song descriptions, history Ann opens with the EPs title track 'Ann' a song about a bi girl who not only cheats on her man but also on her lady friend nevertheless, she can't make up her mind however, the guy has once he finds her hanging out in secret with her girlfriend. This track is a solid brand new classic! The version on the EP is the single to the up coming album due out in the spring of 2007 Track two is a nice acoustic groove 'The noise is gone' with original words by Carl Wayne. Earl and Carl, both writers where hanging out one day when Carl broke these words out to a song he was working on and later Earl put the music to it, this track is a rare Jam like style Earl likes to break out every now and then for a change. It's what he calls a dyna-builder and it showcases both the folk and classic rock groove sides of the band. 'This side of Texas' track three is an old tune Earl demo tracked two years before the version here on the EP, this track is the B-side of the Ann single (Ann is on side A) and will be a feature track on the up coming album. This side of Texas is a short story about a guy that's to shy to talk to girls, goes up to a girl at a ball room sock hop, tells her she's the the best looking girl 'this side of Texas', and then runs away from the fear of rejection never knowing that the girl just may have liked him too... Track style note: this is the first single ever to be released with a country rock feel to it by Earl as of yet! He loves old country like Cash 55-69' Waylon Jennings, Old elvis, Patsy Cline, and many others, although he's not a big fan of new country. Track four 'Listen to me' a tune from their debut album, this version starts with 'Joseph' doing a rough take for a radio commercial trying to introduce the band, then a live radio podcast version of the song kicks in with Earls grinding guitar and Bettys anvil drum style as this song fades it goes right into 'Someday' a song inspired by Joseph Meekins and how someday he wants to be just like his dad, and how his sister wants to be just like her mom, although the two of them don't know that they will change their minds somewhere along the way and stuggle so badly not to be like their parents and somehow end up just like their mom and dad in the end... This is an awesome tune! *The podcast version of 'Listen to me' was recorded in April 2006, 'Josephs Commercial Advert' was recorded in March 2006, when Earl and Betty were making advert for BandRadio. 'Someday' was recorded at rehearsal before their Halloween showcase party for their 2005 debut album on Halloween 2005, several recordings were made that day with the bass guitar mixed to the reel to reel recordings in the summer of 2006, this version of 'Someday' was the first ever recording of this song, this song will be on the up coming album! 'Ann' like 'My crazy woman' is an instant classic for the ever growing husband and wife that started out on an acoustic and a snare drum... We hope you enjoy this music for years to come, and as always stay tuned for what's next! GSA Records.
