I had a mattress protector on my mattress for years, but it always did this weird bunching up and would nevwr lay flat. When looking for a new one I saw this kind of a two for one deal. You get the mattress protector, but also the comfort of the memory foam layer. An instant upgrade for a older mattress! Been sleeping like a baby nightly since installing it. I'm happy with the cushioning provided by this topper. It's firm enough to provide support yet soft enough to give you that 'sleep on a cloud' feeling. This had less odor out of the box than most toppers like this... I aired it out on my porch for 2 hours and it was ready for my grandson's bed by the time he came over. He loves it!!
