Adventureland [DVD]

if you are looking for a movie that is similar to superbad, look elsewhere, although adventureland may share both director and cast, they are vastly different, but both enjoyable. unfortunately the trailer did no justice for adventureland, misleading viewers into the belief that this was a comedy, when it is in fact, a drama, tiptoeing on the line of dramedy. jesse eisenberg is a sensational actor, one of my favorites, and he is very underrated. the big let down is kristen stewart, who is so one-dimensional that all her characters are pretty much the same, and her lack of life she brings to her movies is disappointing, as i love some of her films. so i urge you not to base this movie off of a director's other works, as some directors just like a bunch of different styles (david gordon green directed pineapple express and snow angels, very very different) and expect drama with some cute comedic portions, mostly from bill hader and the incredible kristen wiig.

So it was directed by the guy who did Superbad and stars Ryan Reynolds, Bill Hader and Kristin Wiig to name just a few, You kind of expect it to be funny. Unfortunately the laughs are few and the boredom is high. Jesse eisenberg is basically doing a bad Michael Cera impression the entire movie and the girl from Twilight is as dull as ever. Hader has a few good moments in the movie but he is barely seen at all. 2 out of 5 stars.
