Not the old Altra

I tried the regular fit, and it was very tight. Not necessarily width, but the volume of the toe & mid-foot. I ordered a wide and it was big and sloppy. Also, the tongue had this weird foam-filled plastic thing near the top. I can't imagine it not irritating the foot. Finally, the heel came way up on my Achilles. I didn't actually run, because of the fit, but it sure felt strange. Does the shoe designer even run? I've owned many Altra over the last 5-6 years, mostly Escalante and Lone Peaks. These are not the Altras that I have grown to love. I'm not sure what they're trying to do, but it won't please their traditional fans.

Too narrow, silly tongue

Where has the altra toe box gone? Almost all the cusioney shoes are the smaller than normal altra toe box. Selecting a 2E just makes the whole shoe sloppy. The tongue is like thin plastic that you have to fight to straighten out every time you put them on. Not a fan anymore.

Definitely would not recommend them to a friend yet!!!

Are all of Altra's products this poor quality. I've never had a sneaker where the tread had started to detach within a week of wearing, and have the mesh material tear at the ball of my on both sides of each shoe. After 3-4 weeks of wearing I threw them back in the box, and almost forgot about them. I've been working extra shifts at the hospital and needed a break from my Vivo Bearfoot. Pulled these out again, to get upset about the quality of construction again. They've been comfy, and provided the extra cushion I needed, but the quality of the show is poor. There's a wrinkle at the top right corner of the shoe that never evened out after wearing. I assumed it was there because of packaging and shipping, but must be due to some mistake during manufacturing.
