These light housings are painted, and the paint on the top of the driver's side housing was flaking off in the package, before we took it out of the plastic. Clearly they were not degreased before being painted at the factory. Deciding this was too small an issue to warrant a return, we installed them anyway. That's where the second problem appeared; the factory headlight housings allow the bottom of the grill to snap into them, holding the grill on the car in conjunction with the screws on top. These ones have posts inside of the snap-on housing which are too thick to allow the factory or aftermarket grill we bought to snap in; rather, they merely rest in there, and will likely allow the bottom of the grill to pop out while driving. Finally, the screw adjustments to center the lights appear to have no effect on actually aiming these lamp housings. Screwing them to any extreme will leave the lamps pointing in the same direction as their origin. Finally, they stick out about a 1/2" from under the hood when closed. If I hadn't already installed them, I would be very inclined to return them. Perhaps I will be able to file, sand, and paint them to be comparable to the cheaper, factory style lamp housings that are also available.
