2nd Machine and Love It

My wife uses this machine for making her own clothing line. They work great. Only little defect is that when the machine is running at full power the thread can jump out of the holes on the thread holder. We added a small piece of scotch tape and the thread stays put.

Serger and Coverstich in one for a great price!

This machine is awsome! Don't let some of the reviews scare you. I think it is easier to use than my Brother 1034D and will do a lot more for less money. The threading of the loopers can be a little intimidating, but if you watch the videos on YouTube or sign up for the free online class on the BabyLock website for the "Diana Serger" it will make it a breeze. Just like other sergers, it is color coded and with all the features, coverstitch, and automatic tension, it can't be beat. This serger is nearly identical to other brands, including BabyLock, Pfaff, and Husqvarna-Viking. Trust, me. I did my research before buying. You get a total of 7 feet with it. There are additional special purpose feet that few people know are available for this model that can be purched at Pfaff and Husqvarna-Viking dealers or here on Walmart.com currently for $160.07. Look for the "Inspira Coverstitch Feet Set.

Satisfied with the performance and options

Sorry it took so long to write this review but this "serger" is a bit more complicated than any of the other sergers I have owned. Unlike my husband, who reads the instructions after he puts something together, I took the time to read the supplied hard copy Instruction Book before I even fired up the machine. I was surprised by how heavy the machine is and I'm glad that the carry handle is so sturdy. I appreciate that the machine was already set up for the Triple Cover Stitch. This setup made it very easy to move on to the Double Chain Stitch settings. The Double Chain Stitch setting had a lot to do with why I purchased the 14T968DC. I quilt on a longarm frame and often have to add a fabric skirting to my backing to be able to have the buffer I need to easily place the section to be quilted in the right area. For years I have been basting these fabric extensions and then pulling threads to remove the skirts after I finish quilting. Now I can use the Chain Stitch to attach the skirting and easily pull the lower looper thread to quickly remove the stitching and get on to binding the finished project. I have not used all the stitches yet but I do not see a problem as long as I keep the Instruction Book by my side. My next project will be to edge some of my old wash cloths that will become cleaning rags.
