To keep the shelf secure we drilled 4 small holes through the shelf where it sits on its own brackets, then placed in long screws. This make the entire unit much stronger. If your unit has already started to bow place a piece of wood 2x4 " under the shelf in the center, the length to the floor and secure with screws. That way it supports anything heavy you may need to place on the shelf.Hope this helps. I love my raised bed and am currently growing peace lilies indoors.

I put three 12 x 12 planters in these so flowers can be seen above the deck railing. I bought a new Trex deck and was told not to use railing planters because it would void the warranty. So these came to the rescue. I am very happy with them. Sometimes the drain hole gest plugged but no big deal. Sometimes the bottom shelf pops off but it can usually be put back on.
