Great historical romance

"What was love if not a desire to make someone happy? Just because she feared she couldn't, didn't mean she didn't desperately want to." Another sweet, uplifting historical from Melissa Jagears. This is book 2 in the Frontier Vows series but can be read as a stand-alone. The setting of Wyoming Territory in 1884 is very tangible and palpable as each person works hard to make way in the wild west. For Corinne, the town laundress, life gets more difficult as pain interferes with her ability to keep up with her livelihood. Nolan, a disabled rancher, already has limitations on what he can do for his business but gets slammed into a huge obstacle when his father's will stipulates marriage for him to inherit the land. Both characters are vulnerable and quite broken, physically and emotionally. It is easy to fall in love with both of them - Corinne with her insecurity from her previous experiences and Nolan with his inability to believe that he's worthy of love and respect. Corinne is creative and resourceful while Nolan is practical, good with numbers and has a great sense of humor. Their dialogue is fun, their friendship that develops from their initial business agreement is endearing, and the fast-paced plot that includes a scheming villain is quite exciting. There is sacrificial love, forgiveness, and healing in Corinne and Nolan's relationship that will tug at your heartstrings. If you enjoy historical romance, you will definitely enjoy this book. I received a copy of the book from the publisher/author via Celebrate Lit Tours and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.

Delightful Marriage of Convenience Story

Pretending to Wed by Melissa Jagears is a delightful marriage-of-convenience story in the Frontier Vows series. I enjoyed the first book so much I was hoping the second book would be just as good and the author did not disappoint. Nolan Key and Corrine Stillwater are two people who have been stung by life, but are so deserving of a happily-ever-after. How their business partnership turns into a different kind of need for each other is certainly a novel worth reading. In addition to the hero and heroine, there is a very nasty cousin and his fiancée that made me want to boo and enough humor to make me laugh out loud. What I enjoy most about Melissa Jagears books are the way she seamlessly combines a sweet romance with a spiritual lesson. The characters conversations with God were a natural part of the story and not an add-in. Characters from the first book do appear in this book, but I believe this book could be read on its own. (But you may want to start with that first book because it was lovely as well). I highly recommend this book! I received a copy of this book from the author. All opinions are my own.

Marriage of convenience

Melissa Jagearss books are aways good but Pretending to Wed is my favorite book so far but I say that with all of her books. I knew I would love Pretending to Wed because of the cover, the setting was the FRONTIER, marriage of convenience and the first page I was laughing and I was hooked!! Corrine and Nolan are our wonderful main characters. Well, not always wonderful because they do create a lot of their own problems. What I love the most about Pretending to Wed is the way she shows Gods love throughout the book. I catch myself looking at my Christian life and I draw strength from her words and see where I need to change...even repent. If you like marriages of convenience, fast paced but you dont wont it to end, bad guys, frontier living and Gods love for us sinners. Then this book is for you. I highly recommend reading all of her books.. youll surely be blessed. *I received a complimentary copy from the author and I was not obligated to leave a favorable review. All opinions are my own.*
