Excerpt from Murmurmontis, 2001, Vol. 91

Students who became involved in the extra activities at Wesleyan allowed themselves to grow and not only explore what they learned in the classroom, but also expand their knowledge on the artistic world beyond Wesleyan's campus.

Not only did departments bring art to Wesleyan, but they also gave students the opportunity to travel and experience music, art and theatre. Where it was domi nate. The Art Department took annual trips to Washington, DC and New York City, while the Music Department took students to professional productions around the country. These trips gave students the opportunity to see first - hand the professional world that they were studying and to nourish their dreams. Throughout campus, art could be seen outside the campus center or heard echoing from the department of music. Art was always a part of Wesleyan's culture and will continue to grow as a major part of Wesleyan's tradition.
