This cod liver is excellent: fresh, tender, and very flavorful. The oil tastes clean and natural. I tried another brand, and this one is the best. Highly recommend!

At the time I bought this brand, they were the best deal among its competitors, so I grabbed up a bunch of cans, since they came highly recommended. People rave about the nutritional benefits of organ meats and of cod liver oi. This product checks both marks. It is considered one of the healthiest foods a person can eat. I never previously had canned cod livers, but everyone who talked about them said that they were very mild tasting and not super fishy. I spend a small fortune on cod liver oil for my health, so I thought this would be good to try. Before trying them, I heard people describe them as having a very soft, silky texture. They weren't kidding on the texture. The livers are kind of silky on the outside and mushy on the inside, like a smooth, thick pudding. Of course, it is drenched in fish oil too. To be honest, I kind of find the texture a bit off-putting. I ate them plain, straight out of the can, though, so as not to violate my diet. I think they would probably taste much better on a crackers or something. The flavor and smell is OK. It is kind of like a mild tuna flavor without the meaty texture. Frankly, I would rather have the tuna, but I will figure out how to eat what I bought, so that they don't go to waste. Bare in mind that a little goes a long way. I found that I am only able to eat about half of a can in one sitting, because the product is so rich in oils. All of that fat kills the appetite pretty fast. Overall, I am satisfied with the product. The cans arrived quickly and were well-packaged. They have a pull tab design, so they are easy to open. As far as flavor and texture goes, they turned out exactly how they were described to me. I just had no idea whether or not I would like them. It is still a pretty good deal regardless; especially if you are one who takes cod liver oil every day for your health.
