Scosche PI150M Invert150 150W Mobile Power Inverter 1 AC Outlet, 2 USB Ports, 12V Car Adapter New

I was excited when asked to review this 150w power inverter from Scosche. The first car inverter I purchased, in 2005, was only 100 watts and the size of the box that this product came in. The technology has really come a long way! I have been using this product for a couple of weeks now to charge my cell-phone while driving, and it has performed perfectly. It has both 1 amp and 2.1 amp USB female ports as well as a standard 120v household plug type port for laptops and other gadgets that need a standard plug. Luckily my car has a "power port" as the instructions warn against using a standard cigarette lighter port. I assume it has to do with the current that is being drawn if you have a lot of items plugged in at once. I gave it a torture test and plugged items into each of the USB ports while my laptop was plugged into the standard port. I'm happy to report that no fuses were blown, although after 20 minutes I did get a slight odor of warm plastic and the unit was quite warm to the touch. Pros: 1. Multiple ports for you and the family to plug into on the go 2. Compact size with detachable cord, makes storing this unit a snap 3. Powerful 2.1 amp port for quick charging of your device 4. The Build quality and color scheme are awesome 5. No detectable fan noise to make you crazy while driving Cons: 1. Only 150w of total power, this may limit connection of multiple high draw items 2. Got a little warm and had that warm plastic smell when pushed 3. May not work well with older cars that lack a "power port"' Don't let its small size fool you. If you are in the market for a car/boat power inverter, pull the trigger on this product. I will be using mine for years to come
