OXO was founded in 1990 by Sam Farber, who had a vision to design and develop kitchen tools that would be comfortable, efficient, and accessible to everyone. Inspiration for OXO's unique approach came from Sam Farber's wife, who was experiencing difficulty using a traditional peeler due to her arthritis. This personal experience led to the development of the iconic OXO Good Grips Peeler, which featured a large, cushioned handle designed for ease of use and comfort. The success of the Good Grips Peeler paved the way for OXO's expansion into a wide range of kitchen tools and gadgets. Each product in the OXO lineup follows the brand's philosophy of Universal Design, which aims to create products usable by as many people as possible, regardless of their age, ability, or physical limitations.
