I got this to scare off the bats that are determined to live in the peaks of our outdoor patio. They drop guano on our deck and it's filthy and unsightly. I wasn't sure if this would work, but the first night we had them up there were no bats! I am hopeful this will continue to act as a deterrent. I love the look of them, which I hadn't expected. The gem did pop off one right away. But I really don't mind that. There were no instructions. But here is what I did. I held from the center and slowly pushed to the right as the spinner fanned out. It was really very simple and easy to do. I hung them on chains to bring them down from the ceiling by about seven inches. They really are lovely. And…. NO BATS!
