These are metal curtain rods but do look like wood. They are very easy to install . I did use a level and the leveling/adjusting screws in the mounting brackets to ensure straightness of the rods and curtains. They came with a center extension rod that i did not need to use; however it is the same finishand came in good shape. No scratches or dents. I am very pleased with these curtain rods .i ordered the white and they go great with anything. For the cost and overall quality they are exceptional.
