Four stars bc it didn't come with instructions and apparently I needed that. lol Slide the tan plastic piece off, adjust the gate, push the wooden bar down and then slide the plastic piece back to lock it in place. I never figured out what the baggy of plastic pieces do but it works just fine without them so they're in my box of extra pieces I store in the closet just in case. Very sturdy, my baby and my dog try to knock it down on the regular and they can not.

I ordered 2 of these and one had the wood split where the bar is attached and got worse trying to install. I sent is back for an exchange and the replacement had no problems. Just be sure to check for cracks in the wood before installing or purchase. other than that, it works well!

This gate is not as pictured in all but one photo on the site. it shows the original stand by gate with the metal clamp. that is what i ordered BUT I received this crappy new fanfled plastic design that is hard to figure out and use. I wanted what was in the pictures , well 4 out of the 5 pictures. just be aware the item that you receive is not what is pictured. except for the one close up of the plastic closure. Inaccurate discription photo's.
