The rug is thin but that's what I wanted , it's under our main front door rug for accent purposes. The rug is fairly smooth, not scratchy or itchy, in fact our dog loves it. So far easy to shake out. I haven't washed it yet but feel like after the first wash I'll hand to dry in case of shrinkage.
