This set contains gorgeous doo-wop ballads ("I'll Be Home, "The Vow") and novelty jump blues ("Shilly Dilly," "Chick-a-Boom") from the Chess Records tenure (1956-58) of one of the classiest of the '50s rock vocal groups. "I Only Have Eyes For You," The Flamingos' biggest and best-remembered single, was recorded later for a different label. Technically, then, this is not a Greatest Hits album. It is, however, a outstanding example of '50s street- corner vocalizing.
