Why copper wiring over aluminum?

The CCA wiring (Copper Clad Aluminum) uses an aluminum conductor, a material less expensive than pure copper, coated with copper. In short what this means in terms of performance is that since CCA has a higher attenuation, there will be a lost higher chance of packet loss or data corruption at the physical layer. The longer the cable is, the higher chance of this happening is much more likely. In addition, CCA has lower tensile strength resulting the likelihood of cable damage through pulling or bending.
