About the year 1833 Charles Spackman Barker, an Englishman, brought out a device which he called a pneumatic lever. The principle of which is diagrammatically illustrated in Figure 2. It will be seen that the chain of mechanism shown in Figure I is interrupted in Figure 2, by the introduction of Pneumatic Motor 9.
