Rav Yaakov Yosef Herman (1880 - July 24, 1967) was a Torah pioneer in America. His legacy is well-known and well-told in his famous biography, "All for the Boss." With uncompromising firmness, mixed with unwavering love and devotion, Rav Herman lived his life like a soldier in G-d's army, his every action dedicated solely as "all for the Boss."

Rav Herman became known for feeding and lodging dozens of people in his home, including meaning of visiting European rabbis. Rav Dessler, after staying with Rav Herman for an extended stay, wrote the following to his father about Rav Herman: "He is a businessman brought up in America. But he is an outstanding y'rei Shamayim (God-fearing man), who observes the mitzvos of the Torah meticulously. He influences many people and guides them to become observant Jews. Reb Yaakov Yosef is known for strict adherence to the mitzvah of hachnasos orchim. On Shabbos, there are approximately twenty guests at his table."
