This Life of Jesus the Christ was written from the stand point of the teacher in the Sunday school, with a class desirous of gaining a mastery of the facts from a constructive point of view. It was originally published, chapter by chapter, in various religious weeklies. Notwithstanding the limitations imposed by this method of publication it excited an interest among many readers which seemed to justify its issue in book form for permanent use.
The chapters follow closely the Bible Study Union lessons on the Life of Christ, to which they were designed to be supplemental. So representative of the best scholarship is the outline of these lessons that no practical difficulty arose to prevent its being thus followed. The formal requirement of a quarterly review lesson proved advantageous rather than otherwise.
