A truck hit me when I was riding my bike, and the bike seat rammed where you never want it to ram causing tearing and bleeding (I'm a guy). To avoid this in the future, I started looking for padded impact shorts, and got these. There is plenty of firm padding which is what I was looking for as soft foam would never protect in a fall. I wear compression pants, then normal bike shorts with the soft seat padding, then these shorts over them, then abrasion resistant baseball pants over them. Everything works together and I stay cool since everything is moisture wicking material. The tailbone pad on these shorts doesn't interfere with riding, though depending on riding position I might be sitting on it slightly (just upright position). In a tuck leaning forward, the pad is high enough to not touch the seat (but still protects tailbone and booty hole), and normal bike short padding protects from the hard seat. I feel safe knowing the pointy bike seat can't ram me again, and my hips and tailbone would be protected in a fall. For reference, I ride 20-40 miles per ride, 3X/week so no effect on comfort. For fit, I am 165 lb at 5'7" and have a 30 " waist with muscular butt/legs. Medium fits comfortable (not too tight or loose) going over the bike shorts with padding, so would probably be a little big with nothing underneath and a Small would be good.
