“God wants you to remember, because it is true –you can give love to others, because Jesus loves you,” Sarah Parker Rubio ends her children's book, God's Love Is Like Sunshine.
~ What ~
This twenty-page-page board book with rounded corners targets children ages one to four years old. With no scary scenes, it contains the attributes and character of the Almighty God. Colorful, engaging, and charming illustrations cover both sides of the pages with an easy-to-read font size.
This short read for kids reminds them how wonderful God's love is, like His sunny smile, an abundance of His concern stacked high like pancakes, the joy of a fun musical song, His soft, caring touch when being filled to the brim like a glass of juice, or feeling the warm sunshine He made that makes everything grow. Through Jesus's love, we can give love to others too.
~Why ~
This is a lovely rhyming book that little toddlers can enjoy looking at the happy pages while being read to or beginner readers up to the first-grade level can understand without too many complicated words. I appreciate the joy and happiness the book promotes with God being the reason. Correlating pancake syrup to tasting God's love and never wanting to go back was adorable.
~ Why Not ~
Those who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ may not like a book that talks about God and His Son. There are a few two- and three-syllable words that young ones may not understand or comprehend, but they could be explained by the reader.
~ Wish ~
I wish the two pronouns of God were capitalized for reverence.
~ Want ~
If you are looking for a cute yet obvious book that hones in on being aware of the love of God and how to be loving to others, this would be an excellent gift for a young one.
