10 Out of 10 Sprouted

Of ten seeds I placed on Black Agar for photographing germination, all 10 of the seeds sprouted between 24 to 48 hours. I've noticed in the past, as with this batch of seeds, that the seeds themselves are often somewhat variable in size. I've come to identify this as a normal characteristic and it seems to have very little effect on germination or vigor. I'm very pleased with the results of these seeds.

Does what is says on the tin

Work great. Always germinate within 24 hours. Seems to be pretty much 100% germination rate. Will grow on agar and on filter paper. The only down side is that the seeds come in quite a large distribution of sizes. From about 100um dia to about 1mm dia.

Astro lived up to it's reputation!

We have used Wisconsin Fast Plants before with good results. This was the first time we used the Astro variety. With a three-bulb light bank instead of the six recommended and with no real temperature control, all of the plants flowered within 18 days. The seeds, impressively, boasted a near 100% germination rate. This was key because in our last set of plantings we didn't have enough seed to plant multiples in each cell! My only reservation with this variety is that there seems to be a large variation in plant height among seedlings grown in identical conditions. This could affect some experiments like ours which looks in part at flowering time and terminal height. Overall, great, consistent, fast results!
