For MerCruiser Exhaust Y Pipe Water Shutter Flapper V6 V8 Engines 807166A1
- On any engine with through-the-prop exhaust, the tops of the exhaust “Y” pipes on both banks have rubber flappers at the top where they connect with the rubber exhaust hoses that clamp to the exhaust manifolds.
- The flappers act as one-way valves, to let exhaust flow out of the engine, into the Y pipe, and out the propeller. They’re important because they also prevent water from back-flowing into the exhaust stream and ultimately the engine.
Application:
Fits for many Mercruiser stern drive V8 engines,
Fits for some V6 that came with the two piece manifold/elbow.
Will Not work on V6 engines that came with the one piece manifold (use 807166A2 it has a flat tip), or early V8 with the round pin going through flapper.
