These socks do need to be washed alone at first or with towels. But after the initial ‘fuzz' is washed away, they're still thick

Great quality for price. Wash before first use.

I saw the reviews about shedding and was worried about getting these socks but I purchased them anyway because $4 is cheap. If you don't want them to shed, you need to wash them first before wearing them to get the lose threads out. After that, shedding will not be a problem. I would order again.
